  TOPIC: Women education and empowerment in Pakistan.

SUMMARY

Education is the backbone of every country and nation and Women plays an important role to build it. Education of man means education of one person but education of one woman means education of whole nation. “Behind every successful man, there is a women” (Ashraf et al. 2015) shows importance of women in society building but things aren’t as simple as it seems. Pakistan is a developing country and facing many social, economical and political problems.

In Pakistan, very low percentage of people get higher education. The ratio of women education is quite low. According to research, rate of men education is 72.5% while rate of women education is only 51.8%. The rate may differ for rural and urban areas but women education rate is low in both.

According to the constitution of Pakistan, Article 25 “The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of five to sixteen years in such manner as may be determined by law” (Ashraf et al. 2015) the government is responsible for primary and secondary education till the age of 16 and it’s compulsory for every citizen. The Holy prophet also said that “Seeking of knowledge is incumbent upon every Muslim” (Ibn Majah 1/224 and Tirmidhi 218) (Ashraf et al. 2015) but still child labor is common and women education is low in ratio than man. Government should try to resolve this problem and promote women education because Education is the only tool that can empower women and can develop any country in the world.
